It is my delight to share that the Hayward Area Historical Society Museum invited me to participate in their 2024 Day of the Dead exhibit. Thirteen (13!!!) of my works of photography which depict the symbols of the season, have been chosen. They are showcased between the HAHS Museum gallery and at the gallery space on the second floor at the Hayward Public Library.
To have the opportunity to joyfully share my culture and my personal take on the symbols of the seasons, is a profound blessing. There’s a whole long wall dedicated solely to my work at the museum. On the other wall are several more of my pieces in company with other artists. It was wild to turn the corner and see my work celebrated like that.
Below I’ll share the video and the photographs. The 13 pieces are available for purchase ($125 for a complete framed piece) and 20% of the sale will go to the HAHS. The HAHS Museum will have a pop-up shop on Saturday, October 19th and arts and crafts on Saturday, the 26th & November 2nd. The museum is open to the general public Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 11-3pm. During the week, if you’d like to go with me, I can get you in during staff hours of 9am to 5pm.
Earlier this year I put out into the ether that I was up for a full showcase. I was sure this idea was rejected when I didn’t get a grant I applied for back in February. Nope, there was no rejection. The universe just had something better in mind.
Thank you for helping me celebrate the season. May the memories of your loved ones always be a blessing.
Beautiful. I love the texture, shadows and light in that yard image, and the vibrancy in all of these!
